The P516SLH is a 5/16 in self-locking hook with a swivel end and a 4,500 lb working load limit. The self-locking design closes automatically under load — no separate latch to fumble with one-handed, and no risk of the cable popping out of an open throat.
Self-locking vs. safety latch hook?
A safety latch hook has a spring-loaded gate that the operator opens by hand to insert the cable. A self-locking hook closes automatically when load is applied — you can't open it under load, and it stays closed even if the latch spring fails. Self-locking is the safer choice for repeated recovery work; safety-latch hooks are simpler and cheaper.
- 5/16 in cable size

For a safety-latch swivel hook style, see the 6,000 lb Safety Swivel Hook (P51104041). For the 3/8 in winch cable with self-locking hook variant, see the 3/8 in Winch Cable.
⚠️ Never use a winch for lifting or moving people. Pulling and recovery use only.
