Cattle & Ranching

The ranching and cattle industry powers beef and dairy production, managing livestock across vast U.S. lands. Pierce Arrow Inc. equips ranchers with cattle sirens that mount on trucks or tractors to call herds across sprawling pastures. Our hay hauling equipment—including truck bed bale spears, bolt-in bale spears, and 3-point tractor bale spikes—streamlines feed transport, while the 3-point hay bale unroller distributes feed evenly. The VaxMate livestock vaccine cooler maintains optimal temperatures for safe administration, protecting herd health.

Hay & Bale Handling

Feeding cattle is a daily job that runs year-round, and the equipment here handles the core of that work. Bale spears and the 3-point spike kit pick up and transport round and square bales from storage to feed areas. The bale unroller lets a single operator roll out hay along a feed line without leaving the tractor seat — a job that otherwise requires cutting twine and spreading by hand. The Bucher dual action pump powers bale spear hydraulics with controlled up and down movement, so the operator can place and position bales precisely rather than relying on gravity drop.

Fence & Post

Fence maintenance is constant on a cattle operation — rotational grazing means moving temporary fence lines, damaged posts need replacing, and expansion or reconfiguration of pastures requires pulling existing posts. The hydraulic t-post puller removes metal t-posts cleanly without bending them, so they can be reused. That saves both the cost of new posts and the labor of wrestling bent posts out of the ground by hand.

Hauling

A factory bed dump kit turns the ranch pickup into a utility vehicle that hauls feed, salt blocks, fencing supplies, and loose materials to wherever they’re needed on the property — then dumps the load without hand-unloading. On a cattle operation, that truck might haul supplement feed to a pasture in the morning and a load of gravel to patch a road in the afternoon.

Do cattle sirens actually work?
Yes, cattle sirens are effective in summoning cattle to feeding areas. The method relies on conditioning cattle to associate the siren’s sound with the availability of food. Initially, cattle may respond slowly as they learn the association. However, with consistent use, they typically begin to approach quickly upon hearing the siren, similar to other animals trained with auditory cues. Historically, ranchers relied on vehicle horns, which often led to wear and damage. Cattle sirens provide a durable and efficient alternative, reducing strain on vehicle components while achieving the same result.
Is there a lot of maintenance with a siren?
Nope! Occasionally check to make sure there is no debris in the fan by carefully inspecting the PIERCE cattle siren.
Where should I mount the cattle siren?
It can be mounted to a car, truck, SUV, ATV, UTV or tractor. It can be mounted to virtually any vehicle as long as you have a 12 volt battery source for power. Keep mounting away from tires, and places where low lying tree branches or brush could damage it.
Do I need the standard or the heavy-duty cattle siren?
The heavy duty boasts a louder siren that runs for 8 minutes longer than the standard. We suggest the heavy-duty siren for daily use. If you’re using the siren a couple times a week the standard should suit your needs.
How far does the siren sound travel?
There are a number of variables to consider when answering this question. Wind, weather, terrain, mounting placement and other factors will contribute to how far the sound travels. With that said, customers report effectiveness up to a mile away.
Does the PIERCE Bale Unroller have greased bolts and or grease fitting at all moving points?
Yes. Grease-zerks are found at all moving points.
Does the PIERCE Bale Unroller easily hookup to the quick tractor connects that are popular?
We are looking at utilizing the quick connect option on future revisions of this piece of equipment.
Will the Bale Unroller hook up to both Cat 1 / Cat 2?
Yes
What size bales can the PIERCE Bale Unroller pick up?
The unroller will pick up 5 and 6 foot bales, and will also pick up 4 ft. bales using the extensions.
Will the PIERCE Bale Unroller roll the whole bale out without waste?
The solid “core” will be left (most farmers/ranchers will find a way to feed this as well).
How often should I grease my PIERCE Bale Unroller and what type of grease should I use?
We recommend multipurpose grease (RED). Grease your PIERCE unroller before seasonal use, inspect it every three months, and grease as needed.
How do I hook up the hydraulic connections?
Plug the male into the ½” female breakaway coupler.
Where are PIERCE bale spikes made?
Our shop is located in Henrietta, Texas, United States, where we fabricate, weld, assemble, and service our bale spikes.
How long does the Hydraulic Bale Spear take to lift a bale typically?
With normal pressure and a standard bale you are looking at 15 to 20 seconds.
How long can I expect my PIERCE Hydraulic Bale Spear to last?
With proper maintenance, a 20-year life can reasonably be expected. We routinely see PIERCE bale spikes manufactured in the early 90s still working on ranches locally.
What is the difference between the Gooseneck Bale Spear (ABS1K) and the Bolt-in Bale Spear (ABS2K)?
The ABS1K hay spear installs directly over a gooseneck ball; in comparison, the ABS2K bolts into the truck bed so you can haul trailers while the spear is mounted. Both units come equipped with removable bale spears.
What is the weight limit of Pierce Hydarulic Hay Bale Spears?
PIERCE bale spears have a lifting capacity of 2,500 lbs. NOTE: Picking up bales wider than the rear opening of your truck bed may result in truck damage. Also, Lifting anything other than hay bales will void the warranty and most likely damage your system.
