The PIERCE 3/8 in winch cable is a complete cable assembly built for the 9K–12K winch class. Includes a heavy-duty thimble, the choice of hook (safety swivel or self-locking), and a swaged splicing sleeve — Pierce uses a hydraulic press to compress the sleeve around the cable, which is the standard for a properly built winch cable assembly. Available in 50, 75, 100, 125, and 150 ft lengths.

How should I think about the 14,400 lb breaking strength?

We list the 14,400 lb because that's the hard number. How close you ride to it depends on the job. For steady trailer or ranch work, we like staying conservative. For serious recovery, a lot of guys treat 2:1 as the outer edge — and they still inspect the cable every time, watch for kinks or broken strands, and don't yank it like it's made of rubber. Bottom line: 7,200 lbs at 2:1 is the math. Whether that's smart on your setup is up to you and your winch — use our winch capacity calculator to think it through, or call us if you want to talk it over.

  • 3/8 in diameter wire rope
  • 14,400 lb breaking strength — design pulls around your winch's rated capacity, not this number
  • Lengths: 50, 75, 100, 125, or 150 ft
  • Hook options: safety swivel hook (PS036xSS) or self-locking hook (PS036xSLH)
  • Heavy-duty thimble with hydraulically pressed swaged splicing sleeve
  • Pierce SKU PS036x family — typically in stock

For the 1/2 in cable used on heavier winches, see the 1/2 in Winch Cable. For the eyelets that connect cable to drum, see the Cable Eyelet (PS9000/PS12000). Sizing the cable to your winch and pull? Try the winch capacity calculator.

⚠️ Never use a winch for lifting or moving people. Pulling and recovery use only.
