When should I add a drop hinge to my bale spear?

Add it if you spend more time picking up bales out of pasture than off a trailer. The fixed-angle truck-bed spear is fast for stacked bales but rough on low ones. With the drop hinge, the tine pivots flat to the ground, so you can spear and lift in one pass without backing up to angle in.
