The PS534HGK is a 12V replacement motor with the worm drive gear pre-installed — drop-in replacement for the PSW654 series industrial worm gear winches. 1.5 HP, three-post electrical, ready to bolt up. The right pick when both the motor and gear need replacing at the same time.

Should I get the kit (HGK) or the bare motor (HSW)?

Pick the HGK kit when the worm drive gear is worn — replacing both at once is faster and cheaper than two separate installs. Pick the bare HSW motor when your existing gear is in good shape and you only need the motor. If you're not sure which is worn, inspect the gear teeth: pitting, cracks, or wear flats mean replace; clean teeth and no measurable wear mean reuse.

    Great Product, Great People!

    Sooo, I bought myself a Pierce winch in 1993 for my birthday. In that time, I had to replace the motor two times. The first time I had a starter shop in Austin rebuild the motor and was going to do the same this time. Their estimate was 260.00 but they couldn't get to it for a week or so. While I was waiting I emailed Pierce. They got right back to me and answered all my questions. (Both of them!) Brand new motor was about 150.00 and they shipped it right out. Install took 30 minutes because the

    Glad to receive the part quickly and get back to work. Part did arrive very cosmetically damaged from shipping a heavy part in a much larger box with very little packing. The part still worked! Please consider improving the packaging.
