The Bucher Hydraulics Replacement Motor (Part No. 08196-Y) is a robust 12-volt DC series-wound electric motor specifically designed for integration into hydraulic power units. Produced to meet original equipment manufacturer standards by Bucher Hydraulics—following its acquisition of Monarch Hydraulics—this heavy-duty unit serves as a direct replacement for the superseded 08100 model and is compatible with equivalent Prestolite references such as MMY6304A.
This motor incorporates a pressure-balanced construction with hardcoat-treated internal components, providing excellent resistance to fluid contaminants and extended service life. It is suitable for operation in ambient temperatures from -29°C to 54°C (-20°F to 130°F) and is compatible with standard hydraulic fluids, including Mobile DTE 24 (indoor) and ATF Dexron II (outdoor).
Performance Overview
When paired with fixed-clearance gear pumps in Bucher/Monarch power units (such as M-3530 or similar series), the 08196-Y supports maximum flows up to approximately 2.75 GPM and operating pressures up to 3250 psi (224 bar), contingent on pump displacement. It exhibits strong current efficiency and thermal characteristics, allowing sustained performance under varying loads.
Primary Applications
This motor is ideally suited for hydraulic systems in snow plows, lift gates, dump trailers, and other mobile or commercial equipment requiring dependable high-torque DC operation. Its compatibility and durable build minimize maintenance requirements and ensure reliability in harsh conditions.
